This Completely Off-Grid Tiny House on Wheels is an Aged Couple’s Paradise in Portugal

Portuguese architecture and carpentry studio Madeiguincho creates some simple, yet fabulous tiny timber dwellings. These are designed for off-grid living with the concept of living organisms. Madeiguincho’s latest creation is Adraga Tiny House on Wheels which is designed for a retired couple who intend to spend the remaining part of their lives in the quiet natural surrounding, away from the hustle-bustle of the city life.

This tiny house is part of a larger series of ‘tiny houses on wheels’ across Portugal. The compact timber dwelling is a fully sustainable mobile unit that is totally energy-efficient. It features many sustainability elements including solar panels, rainwater collection, a dry toilet, and composting garden beds.

Similar to its other tiny house designs supporting food production, this 7m trailer home provides garden beds requiring simple assembly, where the couple can grow their own produce.

The unstained pinewood façade of Adraga tiny house blends seamlessly into the natural background. Its rectangular, flat-roofed structure discovers movement through windows and doors.

Through the glass doors, the interior is full of minimalistic and functional features, all furnished in natural wood. The lofty, double-height living area includes a stool, table, cabinet, shelves, sofa bed, and a lot of storage space to house basic accessories. The stairs leading to the sleeping loft are also designed to maximize storage space with small shelving units.

The entire house allows four people to sleep and live comfortably, with the upstairs sleeping area containing a king-size bed. Other amenities include a refrigerator, a cooking stove, a handmade Portuguese-stone sink, and a semi-outdoor shower on wooden slats. With a plain edifice invoking simplicity, this feature-packed tiny house on wheels is a fully sustainable mobile living organism.
